ProMedica and Hillsdale Hospital are pleased to announce a collaboration bringing oncology services to the greater Hillsdale community. This will allow for a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, connecting patients to a vast network of oncology experts, treatments and support services closer to home.
The ProMedica Cancer Institute will maintain an office inside Hillsdale Hospital for telehealth visits with ProMedica Physician Group medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and genetic counselors. Nurse navigators will be onsite to help guide patients through their cancer care journey by facilitating telehealth appointments; working with the care team to provide compassionate, supportive and individualized care; scheduling appointments for chemotherapy, radiation and subsequent testing; and providing education and support to patients and their families.
Patients will have the option to utilize lab, radiology tests and blood transfusion services at Hillsdale Hospital, and oncology treatment services, such as chemotherapy and radiation at ProMedica Hickman Cancer Center in Adrian, Mich. Patients will also have access to the ProMedica Cancer Institute Healing Care Program that provides virtual cancer wellness services to patients, survivors and family members.
“Hillsdale Hospital’s collaboration with ProMedica is a direct response to our community needs assessment,” said Jeremiah J. Hodshire, president and chief executive officer at Hillsdale Hospital. “Countless times, our patients have requested local oncology services to be delivered right here in their backyard, so we’re doing just that. Having this much-needed service accessible in a rural area like ours will be life-changing for many patients battling serious illness, and that’s exactly why we’re here – to provide the high-quality care that our community needs, putting Hillsdale First so that we can remain Hillsdale Strong.”
ProMedica Cancer Institute is the largest cancer program in the region and has accreditations through the American College of Radiology, American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) and Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI). Patients are connected to extensive resources, including an expert provider network and state-of-the-art diagnostic tests, treatments and supportive therapies.
“We are so excited to bring the services of the ProMedica Cancer Institute to the greater Hillsdale community,” said Ann Kujawa, vice president, ProMedica Cancer Institute. “As a nationally recognized cancer-care team, we understand the importance of greater access to treatment and oncology services for patients and families navigating a cancer diagnosis. This collaboration supports the ProMedica Cancer Institute Philosophy…exceptional cancer care close to home.”
