Hillsdale Hospital Donates AEDs and Training to Area Law Enforcement Agencies
Hillsdale, Mich. – June 20, 2019 – Through a grant from the Hillsdale County Community Foundation, Hillsdale Hospital was able to gift ten portable Automated External Defibrillator (AED) units to three law enforcement agencies earlier this month. The agencies receiving the AEDs were the Hillsdale City Police Department, Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office, and Jonesville Police Department. In addition to receiving the AED, each department was trained and certified on proper use of the AED, in addition to CPR, Stop the Bleed, and Narcan administration.
“We learned of the need area law enforcement had for portable AEDs during a Hillsdale County Medical Control Authority meeting,” said Jeremiah Hodshire, Hillsdale Hospital VP-Chief Operating Officer. “Many times, our law enforcement officers are the first on the scene of an emergency. Equipping each on-duty officer from the three departments with a portable AED means more lives can be saved.”
All departments took part in training provided by Hillsdale Hospital’s Emergency Room physicians.
In total, 10 portable AEDs were gifted to the three law enforcement agencies. The portable AEDs can be used to treat adult and pediatric patients.
